Shortlist 003: Skin essentials, spring edition
Products I’m enjoying this season
Fragrance
FR·MYRR [fruh·mur] homemade roller oil — If pottery and skincare/beauty are my self-care, essential oils and tea are definitely Matthew’s. If visual modes are my jam, olfactory and auditory are his. He’s been experimenting with a few essential oils: rose geranium, bergamot (my favourite), myrrh, and frankincense — the blend of the latter two works well as my everyday fragrance, and hence, “FR·MYRR”.
On another note (!), I’m on my second tube of Dedcool Xtra Milk hand cream. As the name goes, it smells a little creamy, a little musky, and sweet. I like to keep hand creams at my desk and bag, and this formula is full of humectants and glycerin, with a subtle fragrance that is kind of nostalgic and elevated. Dedcool also make an EDP which is quite subtle; the cream carries the fragrance more effectively, in my opinion.
Skincare
I’ve been keeping an eye on Dieux, a results-focused skincare brand, over the last few months. There can be so much greenwashing and hyperbolic marketing of trace ingredients in skincare, so Dieux’s transparency is refreshing.
Shipping to Australia from the US can be quite… dismal, however, with a 25% freight overhead. Thankfully, I picked up some products during my trip last month. I was especially interested in Deliverance, their face serum, which can’t be shipped overseas because it contains a cannabinoid encapsulation. I’ve also just finished a bottle of their Auracle eye cream, which is refillable.

Beauty
I’ve been wearing Chantecaille Future Skin gel foundation to help with appearing like I had a good night’s sleep, especially on days when I feel like I haven’t. It’s a splurge, for sure; a little goes a long way so the cost-per-wear might actually be quite decent. The oil-free formula pretty much blends seamless with a buffing brush for a skin-like effect. It’s shaping up to be a summer staple, having been road-tested when I was in San Francisco, where it was still warm and humid.
Lisa Eldridge’s holiday collection has a trio of shimmery lip glosses, including a limited edition orangey-pink shade called Chameleon Chaos — a bit of fun and shimmer for the holidays, and why not?
